Implementing Entity: Khuree Rotary Club
In 2019-2020, in collaboration with the "Urology and Andrology Center" of the State First Central Hospital, the project to introduce new laser treatment technology for crushing kidney and urinary tract stones was implemented. It was known that traditional surgical technologies posed significant challenges for the hospital as the hospital annually provides medical services to over 2,000 patients and conducts 1,800 surgeries, including 1,000 endoscopic surgeries. However, with the implementation of the project with a budget of $227,654, these surgeries were aligned with standards of highly developed countries, eliminating the need for patients to seek treatment abroad. The project successfully reduced waiting lists, complications, and hospitalization periods, while enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services.
In 2023, this project's scope was expanded, allocating $74,800 to extend the use of the previously supplied equipment, facilitate laser technology for prostate surgeries, and improve diagnostics. As a result of these two projects, all types of kidney and urological surgeries can now be performed locally, eliminating the necessity of overseas treatment. Patients now have access to world-class medical services covered by insurance, within the country.
Approximately 3,000 people are hospitalized annually at this facility, 25% of whom, or one in four, are diagnosed with kidney, urinary tract, or bladder stones.
Despite continuous requests to the Ministry of Health for nearly eight years for a laser apparatus worth approximately 1 billion MNT from the state budget, no favorable response was received. However, the hospital acquired the necessary equipment through the international project supported by the Khuree Rotary Club in 2020, resulting in over 2,000 individuals having regained their health, significantly improving their quality of life to date.
