Implementing Club: Niislel Rotary Club
During the Rotary years of 2016-2017, 2017-2018, and 2018-2020, through the Global Grant projects funded by the Rotary Foundation (GG-1527599, GG-1978569), two types of tests for fetal and newborn screening were successfully integrated into the official diagnostic system of healthcare institutions. Furthermore, the projects titled “Development of Fetal and Newborn Screening Tests at the National Level” were effectively implemented, screening over 6,000 newborns to prevent risks. These efforts helped identify newborns at risk and avoid infant mortality and developmental disabilities.
As a result of these projects, the capabilities of medical teams performing such diagnostic tests were significantly strengthened.
In 2025, Japan's Rotary Club proposed collaboration to continue advancing this project.
