In September 2013, Burenbat.S, a former governor of Selenge Province at the time (CP), initiated the idea of chartering the Rotary Club of Selenge. Initially, in 2013, it operated as a non-governmental organization; later, in May 2015, it was officially registered with Rotary International, and it received its official charter on the 20th anniversary of Rotary Mongolia. In 2025, which marks the 30th anniversary of the Rotary movement in Mongolia and the 10th anniversary of the founding of Rotary Club of Selenge, our club now operates with 20 active members.
Since its establishment, Rotary Club of Selenge has been working in cooperation with both domestic and international Rotary clubs to promote and raise awareness of Rotary activities in the local community, primarily implementing projects in the health and education sectors.

Since 2014, in collaboration with the Dannaru Rotary Club of Dangjin City, South Korea, the “Clean Water—Healthy Body” project has been implemented. As part of the project, 14 water purifiers worth 5 million KRW (approximately 8.5 million MNT at the time) were installed in classrooms of the National Leading General Education Laboratory School No. 4 in Sukhbaatar soum, providing students with clean drinking water and making a tangible contribution to their health.
In 2017, as the second phase of the “Clean Water – Healthy Body” project, water purifiers were handed over to the general education schools in Khuder, Bayangol, and Khushaat soums, as well as to Schools No. 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 in Sukhbaatar soum.
On the occasion of its 5th anniversary, Rotary Club of Selenge implemented the “Clean Cup” project. The goal of the project was to protect the health of primary school students and prevent infectious diseases caused by unclean lunch cups. In the first phase of the project, ion-based sterilisation devices for disinfecting cups and utensils were donated to six schools in the provincial center.
In addition, through joint and independent projects, the club has donated various medical equipment to the provincial general hospital, including a sputum suction machine, oxygen concentrator, infusion pump, complete spinal and cervical traction equipment, paediatric vein finder, pupil diagnostic device, and neonatal emergency care equipment—making a valuable contribution to the health and well-being of the local population. With the support of the Ulaanbaatar Peace Avenue Club, a fully equipped “Land 78” ambulance was handed over to the Central Hospital of Mandal soum. Doing so, our club has been successfully implementing many projects and programs aimed at the health and education sectors.
In addition, comprehensive eye examinations and diagnoses were provided to 25 children from vulnerable groups across 17 soums of the province. Children with visual impairments and low vision, as well as those with multiple disabilities such as cerebral palsy were also included in the project. With accurate diagnoses from a team of professional doctors and by wearing customised eyeglasses continuously for 3–6 months, the children were able to significantly improve their vision.
As a continuation of this work, Rotary Club of Selenge covered the cost of cataract surgery for 17-year-old Bat-Erdene from Tushig soum. As a result, the boy, who had 90% vision impairment, was able to improve his eyesight and, for the first time, saw his mother's face clearly. He shared his heartfelt experience with us.
