ROTARY CLUB OF NIISLEL The Niislel Rotary Club was established in 2002 as the third Rotary club in Mongolia and officially chartered by Rotary International on July 18, 2003. As one of the country’s pioneer clubs, the Niislel Rotary Club continues to be a leading force in community service and Rotary values. In 2025, the Club operates with 20 active members, 12 of whom are Paul Harris Fellows.

Together with committed Rotarians who uphold the ideals of Rotary, we have successfully implemented over 50 projects and initiatives in collaboration with both Mongolian and international Rotary Clubs. These efforts span key areas such as education, healthcare, water and sanitation, environmental protection, community development, and the Peacebuilding

One of our club’s core priorities is to support and empower our members, foster teamwork, increase membership, and mentor future generations of Rotarians.

International Partnerships Since 2004, the Niislel Rotary Club has enjoyed a strong and friendly partnership with the Taipei Sun Yang Rotary Club (District 3840) in Taiwan and the Yeon-In Rotary Club (District 3600) in South Korea, strengthening international cooperation through shared service and fellowship.

Community and Youth Engagement Our Club has also made significant contributions to the growth of the Rotary movement in Mongolia by founding and supporting youth and community groups, including the Hobby Rotaract Club, Shine Erin Interact Club, UNG Interact Club, and Niislel Interact Club.

In Honor and Memory We deeply honour and respectfully remember our Club’s founding members, Mr Kh. Altangerel (President 2005–2006) and the late Mr S. Boldbaatar (President 2006–2007, Area 10 Governor 2017–2018), whose invaluable contributions helped shape the Rotary movement in Mongolia. We continue to recognise and respect the efforts and dedication of all the former members who played a significant role in the club’s growth and success.

Niislel Rotary Club flagship project:

“Newborn Screening” project:

The Niislel Rotary Club member, PP Erdenetuya Ganbaatar, initiated and led the “Newborn Screening” project funded by the Mongolian Science and Technology Foundation in 2012.

During the Rotary 2016-2017 year, in partnership with Rotary International, we implemented GG-1527599 and introduced two newborn screening tests into the official examination system. As a result, over 6,000 newborns were screened in 2016-2017, preventing deaths and developmental disabilities in 5 children.

The project’s sustainable implementation was supported by repeated Rotary International funding in 2019-2020 and 2022. We are delighted to announce that a Japanese Rotary Club has offered to join as a co-funder in 2025.

“Child Injury, Disability Treatment and Prevention” project

Since 2015, the Niislel Rotary Club has collaborated with the National Trauma and Orthopedic Center’s Pediatric Trauma Unit.

In 2024-2025, in partnership with Rotary members in Hong Kong, we implemented the project “Prevention and Treatment of Children’s Spinal Scoliosis,” screening over 40 children and providing treatment recommendations and on-site training for doctors and nurses.

In 2025-2026, the project aims to expand to train trauma prosthesis specialists in Mongolia and offer continuing education for pediatric trauma doctors and trauma specialists in the regions on “Pediatric Trauma and Orthopedics,” as well as supply pediatric prosthetic orthopedic equipment in a long-term program.
